We thought it would be useful to take some time to reflect on a number of e-days success stories to provide you with real world context of e-days in action, whether that be meeting a tight implementation deadline, solving a key pain point or integrating with existing HRIS systems. First up we’re taking a look at Sony Pictures Entertainment…

Sony Pictures Entertainment is an American company that produces, acquires and distributes filmed entertainment content. Sony Pictures approached e-days in 2015 with two key pain points, outdated paper & spreadsheet processes and the need to integrate with an existing core HR system.

The original approach came following a recommendation from Sony Music, a subsidiary, and existing client that had successfully implemented e-days absence management system to solve their own pain points.

Sony Pictures were using a global HR solution (Workday) and a global Payroll solution (ADP), however neither system was able to deliver Sony’s global leave and absence management requirements. As a result of this downfall, the organisation had resorted to using paper and spreadsheets to manage and track leave/absence and this was making their processes manual, slow and inaccurate.

In addition to this, as with many companies using paper and spreadsheets, Sony Pictures was experiencing workforce planning issues as there was poor visibility over planned and unplanned employee absences across teams and departments.

As mentioned, the main requirement of the project was to provide integration with their existing core HR system (Workday) to plug the gap in absence management capability, whilst also providing an output from e-days into their existing payroll system, seamlessly completing their overall HR data flow.

e-days was rolled out to Sony Pictures rapidly to hit a very tight go-live deadline that fit in with their new holiday calendar year. Sony employees benefited immediately from fully automated leave management, with their approved absences automatically displaying in the Microsoft Outlook calendars.

Sony Pictures e-days system was set up with online return-to-work notifications as part of our sickness management features, customised forms to help managers and HR proactively manage absence according to company policies were also implemented.

On top of this, team, department and project calendar views were created to ensure workforce management and planning teams were able to correctly schedule projects based on important visible absence data.

The important sticking point of integrating with Workday allowed all employee/ manager reporting lines, as well as employee transitions and leavers to automatically update within e-days – keeping both systems in complete harmonisation.

‘E-days has helped us to streamline and effectively monitor absences within the Company. The software is easy to use, colorful and intuitive. The Support team are very helpful and quick to respond – to date we have been very impressed!’ – Marta Coziel: Head of Compensation & Benefits EMEA Sony Pictures Entertainment.

e-days was delighted to meet and exceed the brief of Sony Pictures. Sony’s payroll team was able to replace their complex data collection and collation systems with one-click accurate absence reporting through e-days.

HR experienced a huge improvement in employees and managers accurately following company absence policies post implantation and the online visibility of absence data meant that employees, teams and project groups could plan efficiently.
