I don’t know about you but I think my Royal Wedding invite has been lost in the post. Perhaps it’s because I moved house recently.
So I’ll be watching it all on the TV like millions of others across the UK.
Unlike millions of others across the UK, I haven’t taken any more time off to extend the bank holiday weekend. This is a traditional dilemma for many managers at this time of year anyway, let alone the with the increased number of requests generated by the opportunity for a long break from work with a small impact to overall holiday entitlement balance.

- Key projects: a line manager may believe that staff cover is sufficient for their team, but what about projects that require people from multiple teams? Are there a sufficient number of the right people still attending work to ensure the project isn’t delayed?

- Surprise, surprise: there’s a sudden bout of sickness absence which just-so-happens to correspond with days that conveniently extend the bank holiday weekend. How can you compare those who had rejected holiday requests against those who didn’t? How can you ensure everyone’s sickness absence is being compared and acted upon fairly?
